ABOUT US
Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Bhopal is a
service initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment,
Government of India with the aim of creating resources and
infrastructure required for developing services for persons with
disabilities in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It
became functional on 14 August 2000 and is functioning under the
administrative control of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the
Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai
This Centre functions to meet the following objectives:
•
Generating awareness
-
Pamphlets,
brochures, booklets, publications, print media material and
electronic media programmes, exhibitions, grass root workers and
officers’ training programmes, talks with schools/ colleges
students, conducted group visits to the Centre, and miscellaneous
programmes.
•
Building links with government organizations
-
Government of India, Ministry of Labour; Madhya Pradesh Government,
Department Health, Education, Panchayat & Samajik Nyaya; Chhatisgrah
Government, Department of Panchayat & Samaj Kalyan, District
Administrations; Rehabilitation Council of India, Indira Gandhi
National Open University, M.P. Bhoj (Open) University, and
Barkarullah University.

Providing support to NGOs and parents’ groups
-
Outreach identification & distribution camps, programme development,
assessment of beneficiaries, self-help groups, capacity building,
parents’ organizations, legal guardianship issues, barrier free
access consultations.

Human resources development
-
Long term training courses approved by Rehabilitation Council of
India, short term training programmes and CREs for
professionals/personnel and parents’ training, internship and
students placements, faculty exchange, and training of mobile
resource teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

Services for persons with disabilities
-
Comprehensive diagnostic assessment, therapeutic, educational and
vocational services to persons with all disabilities by a team of
physical medicine rehabilitation specialist, clinical psychologist,
physiotherapist, occupational therapist, prosthetic & orthotic
engineer, audiologist, speech & language pathologist, special
educator, and orientation & mobility instructor, besides parent
guidance and counseling, designing, fabricating, and distributing
assistive devices.

Enhancing special education & vocational training
-
School readiness training for children with locomotor disability,
hearing impairment, blindness, mental retardation, autism, remedial
education programmes for children with low vision, and dyslexia,
referral for vocational training & guidance.

Research & Development
-
Long-term research project, short researches, innovative appliances,
product appraisal, printed material, CDs of training material.
